Many people these days seem to avoid carbohydrates in their daily food intake given all the negative media and rumors surrounding them. They are actually very important to the function of our organs and muscles....healthy carbs, that is. If you are active it is particularly important to consume healthy carbs. They act as fuel for your body. If you deny them to yourself, your body will let you know enough is enough with bringing you a great deal of fatigue and/or leading you to overeat.
The average person should consume 45-65% of daily calories from CARBS, 10-35% proteins and 20-35% from fat. Breast-feeding moms can be on the higher end of the carb percentage.
You wouldn't drive your car without gas would you? The same goes for this important fuel for your body.
